Welcome To Zojoi!
Thank you for registering here at the Official Zojoi Forums! We hope you enjoy your stay, have a good time, and maybe learn a thing or two about the games, the people, and the history behind Zojoi! Even though we're a new company, the people here and game properties we have go all the way back to 1985!
This forum is still new, and tweaks and modifications will likely be made here and there as time goes on. Hopefully nothing major or serious, but we'll be sure to keep you posted. If you have any feedback for the forum, feel free to let us know in the Forum Support board. We'll be listening to each and every comment, suggestion, question, and even critiques.
We don't have too many rules for this forum; just a few common courtesies we would like people to follow to try and make this board as user-friendly as possible.
1) No Harrassment of Other Members
This one should be rather obvious, but just to be clear: we here at Zojoi will NOT tolerate any kind of behavior that could be considered harassment. That means:
- No Inappropriate comments about sex, gender, or sexual preference
- No Racial or ethnic slurs
- No Belittling of physical or mental disabilities
- No Threatening other members with physical harm and/or death
- No Bullying or constant pestering of others
- No Spamming
Anyone caught doing any of the above will have their accounts temporarily suspended as a warning ONCE, AND ONLY ONCE!
If anyone does any of the above a 2nd Time, then their account will be DELETED and the user BANNED at an IP Address level! We want this forum to be opening and welcoming to everyone, and anyone who tries to obstruct that goal will be dealt with immediately.
In the event that someone disagrees with their suspension or ban, they are willing to speak with one of the Forum administrators to make their case. In some instances, we can forgive a transgression if something unusual happens, such as an account being hacked by a bot or other such circumstance. Those will be handled on a case by case basis.
NOTE: While we won't tolerate harassment here on the Zojoi Forums, that does not mean you have to keep your language at a General Audience rating. The forum moderators and administrators are not your parents, and we aren't going to punish anyone for foul language.
Generic insults to other members are frowned upon, and we are aware they can escalate to a flame war rather quickly. But we are not going to treat generic insults the same way as we will with harassment. For example, we are NOT going to suspend someone for calling someone else an "Idiot" or "Moron". If someone complains, we might issue them a warning, but generic insults are not going to have the same weight as comments construed as harassment.
If you have questions about what kind of comments may or may not be considered harassment, we will gladly answer them in private messages sent to moderators or administrators.
2) No Sharing of Emulators and ROMs
This is another one that should be fairly obvious, but should still be mentioned.
Zojoi is a software development company, and this is said software development company's official forum. Sharing software such as ROMs or Emulators, or links to websites where you can download ROMs or Emulators, on this forum will not be permitted.
We are working hard to get our games, both new ones in development and the old ones we have the rights to, out there and on as many platforms as possible. It takes time to see these things through, so we ask that people please be patient. If you absolutely, positively have to get your Shadowgate game on, please seek out a copy for sale online or at a local used games shop that carries older titles. Finding an NES copy of Shadowgate shouldn't be too hard, and same goes for finding an NES too.
Anyone who violates this policy will have their post/thread deleted and receive a warning. If someone should become a repeat offender and constantly try and share links to places to pirate games, or attempt to upload software directly to the forums, the warnings will then turn into a suspension and then finally lead to account deletion and banning!
This policy applies to ANY software from ANY company; not just ones from or relating to Zojoi.
NOTE: This DOES NOT mean that we will come down on people who share IMAGES or VIDEO of Zojoi, ICOM Simulations, or Infinite Ventures games here on the forums. We have seen "Let's Play" videos of people playing games like Shadowgate using an emulator, or people who have taken screenshots of games using an emulator, and we aren't going to hold that against them. Members are free to share those images and videos on the forums, as long as the person hosting the image or video that is being shared doesn't also link to a download site for emulators or ROMs (like a YouTube video that has a download link in the Video Description).
3) Fan Creations Are Welcome But Keep It Clean!
There are a lot of fan works out there for Shadowgate and other games in the ICOM Simulations, Infinite Ventures, and Zojoi library. From fan art to music remixes to 3D recreations of Castle Shadowgate, we welcome them all here on the forums.
All we ask is that any fan creation shared here be within good taste and nothing that might be considered obscene. I can't imagine this being much of an issue, but I've seen fan works that make the Grim Reaper "Mo-e" out of Japan so anything's possible.
(For reference, "Mo-e" is a Japanese slang term that refers to cute girls. So a "Mo-e" Grim Reaper would be a human girl in Death's robes, holding a scythe, etc. while looking as cute as possible.)
Anyone who violates this policy will have their post or thread deleted to remove the work in question, and will receive a warning. If someone repeatedly violates this policy, then they will receive escalating disciplinary actions up to and including account deletion and banning.
NOTE: Fan works depicting the many ways you can die in a game can get a bit gruesome, but we aren't going to nitpick on those. Some ways to die ARE quite brutal! Just try not to make it TOO gory to the point where someone might get queasy looking at it. It's really hard to say what is or isn't too much at this point, but for the most part, we'll leave that to the better judgement of our forum members. We probably won't act unless we receive a number of complaints about a specific piece.
4) Try and Stay On A Thread's Topic
It's true that some threads will derail and swing from one topic of discussion to another. It happens.
However, whenever possible, if a thread is about a specific topic, please try and stick to the topic. If you want to discuss something else, feel free to create your own thread. Please do not try and hijack other threads to steer the topic in another direction; especially if you are not the thread creator.
If we receive complaints that someone is constantly trying to hijack a thread or multiple threads, then we will issue the offender a warning, and follow up with escalating disciplinary actions if they continue; up to and including account deletion and banning.
NOTE: We will NOT hold it against any member if they create a new thread about a topic that already has a thread about it. Some people might argue that a new thread about a certain topic should have been a post in another thread, but others might disagree. To that end, we are not going to issue warnings or anything like that if someone complains about it to moderators or administrators.
And that's it! More rules might be added, and some rules might be changed as time goes by, but if we ever make any changes, we will make sure there is an announcement that everyone can see.
If you have any questions, feel free to PM a moderator or administrator, or start a thread in the "Forum Support" board.
Thanks For Reading and Make Sure Your Torch Stays Lit!
